BACKGROUND
Alternative Energy, LLC, a Solar Company in Phoenix, Arizona, came to us in Feb of 2014 with a focus on wanting to build a website and bring organic traffic for “solar panels” and “solar panel installation” keywords. They did have a current SEO strategy in place and did not have a website. This was a startup company that had 0 years in business and no current clients.
WEBSITE DESIGN
The client said they wanted a “green” friendly website to showcase their solar services and other energy saving products and services. We built the client’s website using WordPress (one of the top CMS web development tools).
SEO KEYWORD RESEARCH
We researched the keywords for this industry to find that many people were searching for all types of solar service,s and not just using solar installation keywords. They were searching for things like “solar panel repair”, “solar panel removal and replacement”, “solar panel inspection”, etc. These keywords were being searched with “keyword + city” and “keyword + near me” most often.
COMPETITION
Most of the competition already had pages and posts for their individual services like solar panel installation so we decided to the same for our client but be more descriptive, offer more explanation where some sites didn’t go in depth, create blog posts to broden topics, and more.
THE SEO SOLUTION
We decided to create local landing pages for their local solar installation services and create posts to answer important questions users were asking all over the US. For example, one of the highest searched questions for their industry/location was, “how much do solar panels cost in Arizona?”. Google loved our answer so much that they featured our answer in the featured snippet section. This also helped their site rank locally when searching for “solar panels” and “solar panels near me near me” keywords.
As you can see above, the cost per click to show up for this keyword with an ad is about $16.73. As you can see below, we’ve got this client over 809 clicks for that keyword and others that are similar. Even if you averaged about $8 a click, which is a low estimate, 8 x 809 = $6,472 worth of clicks over the last 3 months just from this one blog post.
